When you stop and really think about it, how much time do you waste that could be spent working on your business? When you are working your own direct sales business, avoiding these four time wasters and focusing on income generating activities is key. Here are some of the ways we can easily waste time and cost us more opportunities for business success:
- Not Prioritizing Your Tasks
Are you jumping from task to task and not finishing any of them? Then it is time to prioritize what you need to do, and finish them one by one. I think it is best to “eat the frog” first; do the thing that you want to do the least and then start working your priority list. Anything that is left to do can be moved to the top of the list for the next day.
- Trying to be Perfect
If you wait until something is “perfect,” you will be waiting a long time and wasting time. I have difficulty with this one myself, and have really had to work to beat perfectionism. Done is definitely better than perfect.
- Trying to do Everything Yourself
We all have our talents, but being great at everything is pretty much impossible. Don’t be afraid of letting go and having someone help you. Do you have trouble making great graphics; find someone who is and pay to make them spectacular. Do you love a clean house, but don’t have time to keep it the way you like? Hire a housekeeper twice a month to do the heavy work. You get the picture.
- Comparing Yourself to Others
It is a big waste of mental energy and time. Stressing over how much better someone is doing than you and watching their progress is not good. We are all working at our own pace, and as long as you are putting in the time you have set aside for your business, just keep moving forward. You are right where you are supposed to be in that moment. Everyone moves forward at their pace. Be you.
